Art Gallery Branding & Storefront Design
Atelier Papyrus was an art gallery and studio space in Hilversum that showcased contemporary art in an intimate setting. When the owner approached me to design their visual identity and storefront signage, they needed a clean, distinctive look that would complement the artwork inside while attracting attention from passersby.
The Challenge
Create a memorable brand identity and storefront signage that would be instantly recognizable while maintaining a sophisticated aesthetic suitable for an art gallery. The design needed to work across multiple applications, including window displays, business materials, and digital presence.
The Solution
I developed a minimalist yet striking logo featuring clean typography with a distinctive red dot accent – symbolizing both artistic creation and the gallery’s focus point in the community. The stark black and white palette with the vibrant red accent created immediate visual impact while remaining timeless.
The storefront implementation featured large-scale window applications with the logo prominently displayed. The clean, modern typography allowed the gallery’s interior and artwork to remain the focus, while still providing strong street presence.
The Results
- Increased foot traffic and gallery visibility in the neighborhood
- Consistent brand recognition across all touchpoints
- Professional presentation that enhanced the gallery’s reputation
- A distinctive presence that helped establish the gallery in Hilversum’s art scene
Though Galerie Papyrus has since closed its doors, the branding created a lasting impression in Hilversum’s cultural landscape during its operation.
